Cornerstone NJ event at Revel ResortNew Jersey Chamber of Commerce Cornerstone members were treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of Atlantic City's newest casino hotel, the $2.4 billion oceanfront Revel Resort, and a presentation by Gail Cagle, the executive director of training and performance at the striking resort hotel.

{sfx album='5779149138531745889' display='slideshow' align='right' size='125'}The Cornerstone event on Aug. 16 and 17 held at the Revel examined the state of Atlantic City, and put Cornerstone members face-to-face with the city's movers and shakers, including Liza Cartmell, CEO of the Atlantic City Alliance, and John Palmieri, executive director of the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority.

Cartmell outlined Atlantic City Alliance's work – including a new $20 million advertising campaign featuring the "Do AC" slogan – to transform Atlantic into a resort destination that features not just casinos, but shopping, restaurants, entertainment, beaches and the boardwalk. The goal is to give Atlantic City an edge in its fierce competition with casinos and slot machine halls proliferating in Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Maryland and Delaware.

Palmieri discussed his agency's initiatives to improve Atlantic City's commercial, residential, and cultural landscape by renovating storefronts, improving safety and lighting on the boardwalk, upgrading public transportation within the city, and converting vacant lots into public parks.

The presentations were followed by a trolley tour of the city that offered street level views of the improvements being made by both agencies.

Following dinner and an overnight stay at the Revel, Cornerstone members took in a spectacular view of the Atlantic City Air Show from the Revel's Skygarden, an outdoor area 114 feet above sea level with six living rooms, a pool bar and a bistro.
