The New Jersey League of Municipalities on Thursday awarded Tom Bracken, president and CEO of the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce, its Distinguished Public Service Award.
Bracken was head of the Forward New Coalition that was key in crafting legislation to replenish the statewide Transportation Trust Fund after it ran out of money in 2016.
The $12 billion fund finances town and county roadway and transportation projects, and is funded by a 26.9-cent-per-gallon tax on gasoline.
βIt was a very collaborative effort, with businesses, government and labor β the way it should work in all aspects of our state,β Bracken said at the Thursday luncheon where he was presented the award.
