The Edge for July 2026
We asked N.J. Chamber of Commerce members to name the apps they use most frequently to help them run their business or do their job. Here is what they said.
Microsoft OneNote keeps my notes organized and easy to access
The phone app I rely on most is Microsoft OneNote. As a sales leader, I’m constantly taking notes, tracking action items, and following up on conversations. OneNote helps me keep my information organized and easy to access from wherever I’m working. The search function is a huge time saver, especially when I need to quickly reference a customer discussion or team conversation. It’s become my digital notebook and helps me stay organized every day.
— Steve Carr, Director of New Business, Consumer & Small Group Retention, AmeriHealth
My calendar apps help keep work and home running smoothly
I can't live without my calendar apps - my iPhone calendar, Google calendar and Outlook calendar. Between a full-time career and being a mom, they keep me organized and on track. I use them to manage client meetings, travel, and family commitments. My team can see when I'm in transit and available for a call, and my husband and I share calendars to keep up with our kids' schedules. It's the tool that helps keep work and home running smoothly.

My email app is the digital hub that keeps my day moving
I rely most on the email app on my phone. It may not be flashy, but it has become the digital hub that keeps my day moving. I am often moving from one meeting to the next, and email helps me stay close to the people, conversations, decisions and follow-ups that need my attention. For me, it is less about technology and more about staying responsive, informed and connected wherever the day takes me.
— Joe Bertolino, President, Stockton University
The OmniFocus app is my command center, helping me prioritize work
As Rutgers' SVP for Research, I manage numerous projects, deadlines, meetings, and follow-ups. OmniFocus serves as my command center, helping me prioritize work, organize complex projects into manageable steps, and track commitments. The OmniFocus app allows me to quickly capture ideas and offload the mental burden of remembering every detail. That frees me to focus on strategic decisions and building relationships that drive our team’s success.
— Michael E. Zwick, Senior Vice President for Research, Rutgers University
The ChatGPT app saves time and helps me work more efficiently
I've embraced the ChatGPT app as a productivity tool. I use it to create PowerPoint presentations, develop project plans and summarize lengthy reports. It can tailor a one-page executive summary for different audiences, whether it's a department vice president or an IT leader. It saves time and helps me work more efficiently.
