The questions that Linda Bowden posed to the governor were pertinent and challenging, and elicited candid remarks from the governor on where the state stands regarding the stronger and fairer economy.
The governor gave a realistic assessment on where we have made progress, where we are falling short and what we need to do to make the state more affordable and competitive.
His passion and determination for his vision of a stronger and fairer economy were evident.
We support the four updates to his economic program that he discussed today:
- The creation of the ‘Business First Stop’ web portal
- A new $3 million business marketing campaign
- Expansion of the state’s film tax credit
- Exploring new funding mechanisms for the redevelopment of mass transit stations and their surrounding areas.
All of these will add resources to improve our economy and business climate.
Notwithstanding his comments today, much more work needs to be done to build a stronger economy. We hope that the ‘Plan for an Affordable New Jersey’ that Opportunity New Jersey issued this summer will be part of his plan for creating a stronger state economy.
